GreenPois0n iOS 4.1 Jailbreak is released

Update : After the soap drama, GreenPosion re-did their code as to not release the Shatter exploit. Its out today. Might be better that the LimeRa1n in some cases. is the link to their Jailbreak. Be carefull on the 4.1 upgrade. It will blow away your modem firmware and you wont be able to unlock for Tmobile. There are ways to upgrade without updating the baseband.

Well, its finally coming out. But there are limits to this Jailbreak. Its only for the iPhone4 and iPad and iPodTouch 4g. And its only a Jailbreak. The Unlock ie: UltraSnow is not ready yet.

I like the release date. 10/10/10 at 10:10:10 , thats FFFFFFFEAA hex or 342 Dec. Still kinda cute for a binary type of guy.

This is just in. Members of Chronic Dev Team have confirmed that SHAtter based GreenPois0n jailbreak for A4 iOS based devices is finally dropping on 10th October 2010 at 10:10:10AM GMT. According to them, the said tool is done and is ready to release on the mentioned date and time.

Things have progressed to the point where we don’t expect anymore roadblocks. ETA for greenpois0n is 10/10/10 at 10:10:10AM

For those of you who don’t know, GreenPois0n is based on a low-level bootrom exploit which will pwn all supported current iOS devices for life. Apple wont be able to patch it in the next firmware update. They will have to release a revised version for the mentioned iOS devices in order to patch the hole. GreenPois0n will also hacktivate iPhone 4, running iOS 4.1.

Stay tuned to us as we will be bringing you complete how-to guides as soon as GreenPois0n is released to public on 10th of October! [via Twitter]

UPDATE 1: GreenPois0n is likely going to be an untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.1.

UPDATE 2: MuscleNerd has confirmed that SHAtter exploit and GreenPois0n tool are only for the fourth-gen A4 devices like iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G, and iPad. It is not going to work on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and iPod touch 3G.

UPDATE 3: Apple TV 2G might also be supported.

@chronicdevteam: greenpois0n supports: The iPad, the iPhone 4, and the iPod touch 4. Probably the AppleTV as well.

UPDATE 4: MuscleNerd has now confirmed that GreenPois0n is going to be an untethered jailbreak for all fourth-gen iOS devices.

Those reading between the lines: Yes SHAtter itself is tethered. @comex came up with a way to untether it on 4.1/3.2.2

SHAtter is yet another breed of exploit. Bootrom-based but requires userland “assistance” for untethered boots (@comex did this for 4.1)

GreenPois0n iOS 4.1 Jailbreak is Confirmed to Release on Sunday, 10th October | Redmond Pie.

That’s right! The developers behind the newest jailbreak, greenpois0n, have informed the world of it’s estimated arrival date of October 10th, 2010.

Developer Joshua Hill, aka p0sixninja, recently tweeted “Things have progressed to the point where we don’t expect anymore roadblocks. ETA for greenpois0n is 10/10/10 at 10:10:10AM”.

While it’s important to remember that this is only an estimated release date and our friend chpwn puts it into decent perspective “Please note that an ETA is, by definition, an estimate. There may still be delays, although we will try for there not to be any.” Chpwn has been working with Saurik on improving Cydia, but by the sounds of it, it will not be ready to be released alongside the greenpois0n release, but it will be something else to look forward to after jailbreaking.

It will be important to watch out for fakes in the meantime, and make sure that you follow us here for the release. The servers will more than likely take a huge hit, and hopefully we can arrange something like we did with to act as a mirror. Keep your eyes peeled.

While it is not confirmed yet, we are hoping to see an untethered jailbreak for every iDevice currently available, however don’t be disappointed if its not yet untethered.

Get your iPods, iPhones, iPads and AppleTV ready for this sundays “funday”.

Sunday – greenpois0n – Be there. 10/10/10 10:10:10AM GMT

Edit Poseidon: This will only work on the iPhone 4, iPad and iPod Touch 4G. It does /not/ support any older devices as they do not contain the A4 chip that contains the exploit.

Secondly this is not an unlock and will not help those that have updated to 4.0.2 or 4.1.
