I don’t know about anyone else, but I was pretty excited for the Chronic Dev Team to release Greenpois0n so that I could jailbreak my iPhone 4 on iOS 4.1. And no, I didn’t upgrade to 4.1 for the HDR camera or any other additional feature. I had to upgrade for a VPN app that only worked on 4.1 and higher. Listed below are some apps that I frequently use and highly recommend.
This is one of the first apps I installed after jailbreaking again. biteSMS has a ton of features, some of which I don’t even use. I like this app because it completely replaces native SMS app. Some features I enjoy include contact images in the app and on notifications, built in quickreply so you don’t have to switch to the SMS app and then back just to reply, and the ability to fully customize notifications. This is a great app and I highly recommend it to anyone that texts a lot. Search in Cydia to download.
Gridlock by chpwn
This app provides an easy way to manage icons without limitations. Previously, if you wanted empty spaces on your screen, you had to use other jailbreak apps to create blank icons and then place them where you wanted empty spaces. With Gridlock, you simply move your icons wherever. If you’re like me and want to show off your wallpaper, you can manage your icons by placing them wherever it looks right with that specific wallpaper. It’s not a problem if you want a single icon on a screen in the bottom right corner. You can quickly and easily do that with Gridlock. Search in Cydia to download.
Home Page in Safari by Will Strafach
I don’t need to go into much detail on this one. This app lets you set a home page for Safari like you would on any other browser. Search in Cydia to download.
Infinifolders by chpwn
If you’re organized like me, you find yourself creating a ‘Games’ and a ‘Games 2′ folder. However, once you install this app that’s no longer the case. You can put all your games in a single folder the scrolls to allow for more rows. I highly recommend this to anyone that has a lot of apps and folders on their phone. Search in Cydia to download.
3G Unrestrictor by Kim Streich
Ever have an app that you really enjoy using but it only works over Wi-Fi? Let’s take FaceTime, for example. Tango now allows FaceTime-like calls over 3G, but I’m not a huge fan. I prefer FaceTime + 3G Unrestrictor since there’s a FaceTime beta for Mac. 3G Unrestrictor removes the Wi-Fi only limitations from a wide variety of apps that you may use. Definitely look into this if you have apps that function in this fashion. Search in Cydia to download.
For this app, a screenshot isn’t necessary for this one. This tweak simply adds the volume up/down sound from Mac OSX to your iPhone. This is definitely a cool feature and doesn’t require Winterboard. Search in Cydia to download.
